DSP (Interiors) Ltd Derby have been recommissioned by Surescreen Diagnostics Ltd to complete a range of fit-out projects at a number of units at their production facilities across Derbyshire and Nottinghamshire.
We first worked with Surescreen in 2019 when we fitted out a separate production facility for the ‘Nutrivitality’ division of the business, which manufactures world leading liquid nutritional supplements, at Eagle Park.
Covid-19 and the development of the Surescreen lateral flow tests
When the pandemic hit, Surescreen were at the forefront of the fight against Covid-19, producing antibody and more recently antigen tests, which have been exported to 53 countries across the world.
The company remains the sole UK manufacturer to be validated by Public Health England, which has resulted in increasing demand for its products and the need to expand its facilities over the past 12 months.
During this period, DSP (Interiors) Ltd Derby have been working in partnership with Surescreen to transform several newly acquired units into additional production, storage and processing spaces as well as refurbishment work at their Prime Parkway offices.
As Principal Designer and Principal Contractor for the many projects, we have shared Surescreen’s journey as they have gone from employing 60 people to currently around 300+ with a view to increasing that to over 1,300 employees once all works have been completed. In order to keep up with the changing demands and expanding scope we have had to remain agile throughout the process and have played a key role by delivering high quality design and fit outs.
New Production Facility at Eagle Park, Derby
To begin with work was carried out to create racking, packing spaces, including electrical and mechanical works at two units at Eagle Park. This was followed by work to install racking at further units in Derby which was completed between March and July 2021.
We recently finished a turnkey design and fit-out of a third unit at Eagle Park, which started in May 2021. The speculative empty unit was transformed with the construction of a large mezzanine floor to create ground/first floor production facilities with supporting amenities including toilets and breakout space.
Our team carried out all the works including mezzanine floor, fire rating, partitions, ceilings, flooring, kitchen, toilets, furniture, mechanical and electrical.
Work begins on Largest Facility of its kind in Europe
We’re very excited to have also been appointed as principal designer and contractor to fulfil a staged completion of extensive turnkey works at SureScreen’s newest production facility at Sherwood Business Park in Nottingham, the largest of its kind in Europe.
With work on Phases 1 and 2 now complete, we’re partnering with SureScreen on a number of other phases to enable them to deliver the tens of millions of lateral flow tests required by the UK Government.
