About Aaron

Aaron’s journey with DSP Interiors began over 20 years ago and since then he has become a cornerstone of our team. As the Design Director, Aaron plays a pivotal role in turning client visions into reality. His role spans from creating innovative, functional, and visually striking office environments. He ensures our project proposals are accurate, competitive, and tailored to meet each client’s unique needs. Aaron’s leadership extends to managing an in-house team of talented designers and coordinating with subcontracted designers, ensuring a cohesive approach to every project.

Aaron’s career in design began with a degree in Product & Furniture Design. He then returned to university after joining DSP and earned a first-class degree in Architectural Venue Design & Digital Innovation, Interior Architecture, and Multimedia Design from the University of Derby, further solidifying his expertise in the field.

Over the years, Aaron has been instrumental in delivering a wide range of projects, from state-of-the-art office interiors to customised industrial spaces like bespoke mezzanine floors. His versatility, creativity, and unwavering commitment to quality has been central to our reputation as an industry leader.

A Day in Aaron’s Life

Every day in the DSP office is as diverse as the range of projects the team deliver.  However, a typical may include:

Morning:

Aaron starts his day by meeting with the team to review project progress, set priorities, and ensure deadlines are on track. These discussions keep everything moving efficiently. Aaron also dedicates time to connect with clients, discussing project goals, addressing queries, and making any necessary adjustments are made.

Midday:

The afternoon often finds Aaron immersed in the creative process: sketching, refining, and finalizing CAD drawings and design concepts. Whether it’s an office refurbishment or a bespoke industrial mezzanine floor system, this is where his ideas truly come to life.

Afternoon:

As the day winds down, Aaron shifts focus to the finer details of project planning. He prepares comprehensive cost estimates, accounting for materials, labour, and other critical elements. His role also involves liaising with building control to ensure compliance, as well as contributing to DSP’s marketing and social media by sharing the team’s latest achievements with the industry.

Q&A

What’s your favourite thing about your role?

“I love the diversity of the job – no two projects are ever the same. Each day brings a new challenge, whether its finding innovative solutions for tight spaces or helping clients realise their vision for a more productive and aesthetic office.

It’s rewarding to see the transformation of spaces and the positive impact it has on businesses – especially seeing a building go from an empty shell to a fully functional space.”

What’s your most memorable project?

“My most memorable project would have to be when KTM Sport Motorcycles transformed two commercial units, at the iconic Silverstone Park, into their UK headquarters. It was a unique and exciting challenge to create a workspace that truly reflected the energy and innovation of such a renowned brand.

I am extremely proud of DSP winning an award for this project and another one for Robinson Structures fit out. To gain industry recognition for the workplaces we deliver ratifies all the passion and dedication the team puts in on every project.”

What is your favourite office design trend?

“Over the 20+ years I’ve worked in the Commercial Interiors sector, the landscape of the workplace has changed immensely for the better. Offices, once defined by hierarchy ‘who got the biggest office’ have developed into spaces that genuinely try to deliver better environments for employees and visitors alike.

The focus on people centred workplaces isn’t just a trend but a combination of design strategies brought together. It improves staff/ visitor experience, enhances wellbeing, supports agile working, increases productivity and finally promotes collaboration.

The pandemic was a game changer; a catalyst for re-thinking office space and what defined a workplace. With hybrid working now the norm and management trying to entice staff back into the workplace, well designed offices are more important than ever.”

Aaron’s Advice for Clients

“The most successful office designs are those that authentically reflect a business's culture and identity. Take the time to clearly define your objectives for the space—whether it’s promoting collaboration, maximizing space efficiency, or making a bold statement to clients and employees. However, remember that staff are your biggest asset and supporting them to achieve is one of the most crucial aspects of successful workplaces.”
